Fashion Frame Review: Nine West 444

OK, so we all know that Geek Chic looks like the next Big Thing in optical, and most of us are only too happy to say good riddance to small metal rectangle frames. But it must be said – and I’ll say it right here – as cool as Geek Chic is, it isn’t for everyone. What if you’re a young female, and want something fun and sassy? Enter the Nine West 444. No somber, heavy plastic here! Instead we have a flat stainless steel front, welded to a lens carrier in the back. This gives the front a thinner, contemporary look, but with a much stronger design that also offers reasonable camouflage for higher minus lenses.

The frame designers seem to have finally figured out that frames without a rounded bottom edge that gives women the appearance of Saint Bernard doggy eyes, and with enough arch on the top to follow the eyebrows, and just look better – and sell better. The design on the front of this frame breaks no new ground, but it certainly capitalizes on a very flattering shape.

The sides are where the frame starts to strut its sassy stuff. They continue the flat stainless steel look, but with unique linked ovals stamped in the sides. To add to the fun, the ovals are colored several shades lighter than the rest of the temple to add the perfect amount of visual interest. And, if you look very closely at the ends of the ovals, you will notice very small circular depressions. They are tinted darker than the temple with glossy finish enamel, and provide a nice contrast to the satin finish on the ovals, and the semi-shiny luster on the rest of the frame.

So, if Geek Chic is not your thing, but you don’t want boring glasses, check out the Sassy Chic Nine West 444. Available at finer vision care professionals everywhere.
